A documentary film centered around the colorful life of a French immigrant in Los Angeles, Thierry Guetta. Thierry is obsessed with filming, recording almost every minute of his life for years. In 1999, he came in contact with the new rebellious counter-culture artform, Street Art, that will change his life.
A brilliant film that will have you asking, “Is he for real?” The film features famous street artists Shepard Fairey and Banksy.
Many says it’s another prank pulled by Banksy, a street artist known for his graffiti all over the world and most notably his West Bank Wall graffiti. It could even be the birth of a subgenre of documentary, prankumentary.
I’d say the first half of the documentary when Guetta was running around the streets of France, Los Angeles and London looked authentic. The remainder is an egoistic triumph of a prolific film-maker obsessed with street art and street artists.
